I’ve ordered some carbon fibre wrap to do some of my interior trim with. I have become a ricer...

ricing is the next cool trend. It’s retro now.

I wouldn’t call that rice, unless your wrapping your detachable steering wheel, a-pillar gauges, boost controller, shifter boot, and the entire dash pad

I once saw an Ariel Atom with a bunch of this all over it. Alongside the real carbon. I pointed it out to some guys who were looking at it next to me, and the owner tried to insist that it was all real. I wouldn’t have been laughing about it if I knew he was right there, for the record, but still.
Fake carbon can be cool as long as it’s not slapped right next to the real deal. That’s just tacky.

It’s not rice if it’s done tastefully. Just wrap the bezels, and everything will be just fine.

No problem with that. Some new cars come with fake carbon fiber trim now, so you shouldn’t feel bad.

Ricer? Chav? I don’t think we call it ‘ricer’ over here because we’re not racist redneck fucks who know nothing about Japan other than that Chinese people eat a lot of rice.
You can be forgiven if you don’t stick any of that shit on your car. It’s a Twingo for fucks’ sake. For the lulz, you should call your insurance company and ask if sticky-backed plastic in carbon-fibre print is considered a modification :)

I had the wood trim in my BMW wrapped in this for a little while.. Didn’t look rice and got some compliments. Just take your time to do it right and it’ll turn out nicely. I ended up going back to the wood because I got bored of it. They have tons of different finishes, carbon fiber isn’t the only option! And since I DIY’d it didn't cost me much.

My car had some when I bought it around the shifter and row of buttons on the center stack. Kinda wish I didn’t take it off because it was well done (only modification on the car that was) and added something to the interior beside the sea of black plastic it is now. I've thought about finding some brushed aluminum looking tape stuff and redoing it. I know it exists somewhere.

Na just two small bits of trim.

Oh god no...
Please, don’t tell me we’re going to have 40 year olds standing around a 1998 accord with lambo doors, drinking beer and reminiscing about the good ol’ days. If I see a car with neon glow and a subwoofer, please don’t say that when I call it gross my friends will be like “No man, that’s so retro!”.
I WON’T GO BACK TO THAT ERA. YOU CAN’T MAKE ME.

Buy your 1999 Civic Si now.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 13:38 |

Do I know you? One of my friends in college/Formula SAE did the same thing in his BMW.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 13:39 |

Nah, the civic Si is a classic.
I’m talking about getting a base model 4 door civic EX, dropping it to the floor, putting a biagass amp and subwoofers, lambo doors, black spraycan paintjobs with vinyl decals fake turbo gauges on the pillar, a dildo shift knob, bigass spoiler (double decker preferred) canards and naca ducts, larger rims, a cold air intake, a 6 inch wide exhaust tip, a “performance chip”, rear seat delete, sound deadening foam scraped out of the car, a hood scoop, and the piece de la resistance, NOS.

It's not that bad.

There’s no real carbon on this car haha so should be fine. Mostly just to spruce up a dull looking interior.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 13:47 |

Yeah I’m doing it just to break up the sea of black, it’ll be done properly.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 13:48 |

Yeah I’ll make sure I do a proper job with it, I checked out the other finishes but non appealed to me to be honest.

But when I say chav on here no one has any idea what I’m talking about haha.
It’ll be going on there, I’ve already took the trim off ready...

Haha was it an E90? I was lame in college and wasn't involved in Formula SAE.

Cool, last tip is to make sure you get the weave matching throughout the car. It’ll make it look perfect.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 14:15 |

Nah, it was an E36 I think. His trim got scratched up, and he used the carbon to cover it. He took his time with it and was very careful and it ended up looking really good.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 14:52 |

My car basically came with that from the factory, so I think you should be forgiven.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 15:08 |

Ah okay. It really isn’t a difficult thing to do, I was careful and just did one trim piece a day so I wouldn’t get frustrated and it ended up great.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 15:10 |

If I can get it looking half as good as that I’ll be happy.

What kind of wrap did you buy, supposedly the new 3M stuff has tiny perforations that make it much easier to get all the air bubbles out.
![]() 06/25/2015 at 16:44 |
|
It isn’t 3m but it is perforated.

I’m trying to find a nice W210 E55 with the black and red interior. Those cone with burl walnut wood trim which in my opinion doesn’t match the red and black very well color-wise. When/if I find one I plan on wrapping the wood like this. It isn’t tacky or ricey when done well and tastefully with high quality material. Lots of new cars come with wrapped/painted/laminate faux finish trim pieces from the factory, and that’s okay.

You drive a Twingo, so wouldn’t this make you more of a... Frogger?

Perhaps. Maybe I should replace my shifter with a baguette.

Use a croissant for the actual nob. Oh, and always remember to be careful in heavy traffic:
